Two null hypotheses and research questions were established to direct the study to meet the research’s objectives. A survey study strategy was chosen for this study. Out of the two thousand undergraduates (2000) in the population, a sum of one hundred eighty-seven (187) respondents were chosen for the sample. Simple random sampling was used to make the selection. The key tool was a study questionnaire titled "Building Skills for Digital Entrepreneurship and Motivating Self-Reliance," approved by two specialists from the University of Maiduguri's Computer Engineering and Computer Science departments. The researchers distributed the questionnaire. A statistical study using Pearson product-moment correlation was done to test the hypotheses. With 276 degrees of freedom and critical values, every hypothesis was meaningful. The University of Maiduguri found that the self-reliance drive substantially correlates with skills in Point of sale (POS) operation and recharge card business. Based on the study's findings, it was suggested that lecturers have adequate supervision to carry out the Entrepreneurship program. Universities should have workstations, so the stations should be properly staffed and equipped to support achieving the goals.

2025-01-16T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://journals.covenantuniversity.edu.ng/index.php/cjoe/article/view/4878 Home Economics Entrepreneurial Education: A Panacea to National Insecurity 2025-01-16T11:43:12+00:00 Stella Ogunrinade stellabowale@gmail.com
Insecurity is a condition precedent for any successful entrepreneurial idea. The creation of a country’s wealth and dynamism depends upon the competitiveness of its firms, which, in turn, relies fundamentally on the capabilities of its entrepreneurs. Unemployment and poverty are believed to be among Nigeria's major causes of National insecurity. The paper examined the unemployment situation in the present economy as it affects school leavers, graduates, and many working classes. Over the years, the number of graduates produced by various higher institutions of learning in Nigeria continues to rise, with skills only useful for the formal sector, which is growing at a snail's pace and thus unable to absorb graduates. The key to the economic development of any nation is Home economics education, which includes food and nutrition, home management, clothing and textile, family living, interior decoration, child development, tourism, recreation, manufacturing, and merchandising, to mention a few. Charity begins at home. The study revealed that Home economics is a sure means of livelihood for any enterprising individual who cares to make a living from it. Home economics education provides citizens with the necessary Home knowledge, skills, and attitudes that prepare them for productive lives, thereby securing their future and that of the generations yet to come. Nigeria's abundant human and natural resources are underutilized mainly because of a lack of political will, a poor educational system, and other problems. This paper recommends that the government give entrepreneurship education more attention in terms of funding and infrastructural development to create employment for youths in Nigeria. It offered suggestions for sustaining functional, qualitative, and practical home economics education programmes to attain and improve individual and national self-reliance and self-satisfaction.

2025-01-16T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://journals.covenantuniversity.edu.ng/index.php/cjoe/article/view/4879 The Role of Music Entrepreneurship on Economic Development of Music students in Selected Nigerian Higher Institution 2025-01-16T11:50:15+00:00 D.O.A. This research assessed the agripreneurial mindset, education, and passion of final-year undergraduates in various agricultural disciplines, analyzed association between agripreneurial education, passion, and mindset, examined effects of education and passion on mindset, and described barriers to agripreneurial mindset. Data collected using structured questionnaire from 155 final-year students of Faculties of Agriculture at Lagos State University, Yaba College of Technology, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, and Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analyses. Respondents strongly preferred self-employment in the agriculture and food industry, with concerns about rural living. Respondents exhibited strong positive attitude towards agripreneurial education, with consensus on its benefits for business start-ups, strategic thinking, and social networking. They displayed high level of agripreneurial passion, reflected in affinity for hands-on agriculture, confidence in potential success, and proactive planning. Correlation analysis revealed significant weak positive correlations between agripreneurial mindset and education (r = 0.361, p < 0.01), mindset and passion (r = 0.306, p < 0.01), and education and passion (r = 0.243, p < 0.01). Multiple regression analysis indicated that education and passion significantly predicted agripreneurial mindset, with education having a stronger effect. The primary barriers were limited practical training and start-up capital. The research recommends enhancing rural infrastructure, integrating practical learning in curricula, establishing financial support mechanisms, and promoting agripreneurial passion through workshops, seminars, and networking events.

2025-01-16T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://journals.covenantuniversity.edu.ng/index.php/cjoe/article/view/4881 The Role of Entrepreneurship Education and Entrepreneurial Experience in Venture Creation Among Ugandan Migrant Workers in Qatar 2025-01-16T12:19:12+00:00 Arthur Ahimbisibwe ahimbi2018@gmail.com Benard Mwasa mwasabenard@gmail.com Wilber Osteen WANYAMA wilberosteen@gmail.com
This study examines the role of entrepreneurship education and prior entrepreneurial experience in venture creation among Ugandan migrant workers in Qatar, where migrants constitute a significant portion of the labour force. Drawing on a sample of 334 Ugandan expatriates, the research examines how these two factors influence their entrepreneurial intentions and outcomes. The findings reveal strong positive correlations between both entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial experience with venture creation, with education showing a particularly robust effect (β = 0.728, p < 0.001). Regression analysis indicates that these variables explain 94.7% of the variance in venture creation (adjusted R² = 0.947). Despite facing challenges such as limited access to capital, discriminatory practices, and legal barriers, Ugandan migrants, equipped with business education and prior entrepreneurial experience, are well-positioned to establish successful ventures. The study highlights the importance of targeted entrepreneurship education programs and experiential learning opportunities to foster self-employment among migrants. These findings have important implications for policy development, suggesting that supporting migrant entrepreneurship could drive economic growth, improve remittances, and contribute to the broader development goals of both host and origin countries. Future research could expand on these insights by examining the specific barriers and enablers across different migrant groups and host economies.

2025-01-16T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025
