Abstract

The condition of Africa has not improved despite several decades after independence. Various forms of tribulation have now been observed in the continent such as barbaric killings of innocent souls, absurd kidnappings, corruption, poverty; and in short, bad governance. West African authors such as the Togolese playwright, Kossi Efoui - the author of Le Carrefour and the Ivorian author, Bernard Zadi Zaourou - the writer of La Tignasse, denounce the current situation in Africa. Although, the acquisition of independence of African countries should be seen as a lifeline rescue intended to meet the expectations of African people who have suffered from the imbalance of colonization; on the contrary, sufferings, embezzlement of public funds, social injustice, unemployment, misery and poverty are the order of the day. The present study, based on the sociohistorical theory, analyses these socio-political problems of the 21st century. In order to denounce bad governance, the playwrights under study, inspired by the need to find solutions to these challenges made them the thematic concerns of Le Carrefour and La Tignasse.
